CHMF STORY
CELEBRATING MUSIC AND COMMUNITY SINCE 2009
Early Days
In 2009, the Clifton Heights Music Festival was launched with the goal of creating stages in the Clifton Heights community to the talented creators that make the sounds and sights of the tri-state community. The festival, envisioned by a Rome Ntukogu of Far-i-Rome Creative and his team, featured broad genres and staggered performance to encourage audiences to explore and discover new favorite acts. A letter of appreciation hoping to stimulate economy and support as a three-way partnership between the community, festival goers, and of course the performers. These formative years laid the foundation for a cherished annual celebration, fostering community and musical exploration in Clifton Heights.
growth
Starting with a one-night, four-venue event, the Clifton Heights Music Festival quickly expanded into a two-night, two-day celebration spanning seven venues. Over eight installments, the festival showcased a diverse range of music genres, standup comedians, and poetry readings. From 21 bands initially, it grew to host over 500 performances, attracting thousands of attendees and emphasizing local talent and community engagement. This period cemented the festival's place as a beloved cornerstone event in Clifton Heights, and the overall music heritage of the tri-state.
hiatus & return
After a successful run, the Clifton Heights Music Festival took a hiatus. In 2024, we're thrilled to announce the festival's return. Rediscovered by a group of University of Cincinnati students who wanted to take up the work of again bring back an amazing event to a community they love. Working alongside Rome & Far-i-Rome Creative, and with the support of community stakeholders, we're bringing back CHMF, creating new memories, and the magic with renewed energy. The festival's return promises to rekindle the joy and unity that made it a cherished event. Join us as we celebrate the return of the Clifton Heights Music Festival!
